Have really enjoyed taking part in the Haumea 2021 ecoliteracy learning for creatives and art professionals and would highly recommend it. This programme is developed by Cathy Fitzgerald whose eco-social art practice ‘The Hollywood Forest Story’ began in 2008. Cathy’s creative practice-led doctorate ‘The Ecological Turn’ (Fitzgerald, 2019) alerted her to “the urgent necessity, challenges and rewards of bringing art and ecology together”.
According to Cathy “Ecological wisdom–ecoliteracy and ecophilosophy–guides holistic, ethical creativity for a better world, in contrast to current fragmented education that largely alienates us from wider community of life. Cultural research confirms an ecoliterate creative sector has a critical leadership role to inspire diverse communities toward a more life-sustaining era…”.
