Lovely to start the day with a morning melody from the wonderful performer Katie O Connor, singing a song I wrote called ‘Last Hug’. Thank you Katie for doing such a beautiful cover. I think we are all realising how precious hugs are in this pandemic and how much we miss them. I guess this is also reminding us of the importance of love and music in our lives

You can find some more songs and poems here on my website Poetry of the Pandemic and the original performance on Ballybunion beach during the first lockdown This could be the last hug for a while.

You can check out Katie’s music on her Website, Facebook page CaitOMusic or on Spotify

Some more about Katie O Connor on breakingtunes.com

“Since her beginning in Galway 2011, Katie O´Connor has shared her music on stages and streets throughout Europe. In the midst of attaining a midwifery degree, Katie found herself being drawn to creating and sharing music on the street. After qualifying as a midwife, she took early retirement, shaved her head and started afresh in Berlin with just her guitar, her voice and a desire to be true to herself. Although based mainly in Ireland for the time being, Katie spends many weeks of the year on the road bringing her music and message to those who wish to listen. Songs and stories entwined, she delivers a gripping performance each and every time backed up by powerful lyrics and an unrivalled raspy voice. Recently releasing her fourth album, Fuel For Dreaming in May, has been met with a very positive response from her listeners”.

LYRICS

This could be the last hug for a while

This could be the last hug for a while

The last time I see your rogueish smile

So hold me tight

Things will be alright

But this could be the last hug for a while

If we didn’t love, well this would never hurt

But love makes bonds that hurt when they are cut

And love makes us understand

We’re all connected to this land

Yet one day we need to fly away

This could be the last hug for a while

The last time I see your rogueish smile

So hold me tight

Things will be alright

This could be the last hug for a while

Be brave

Be strong

Give voice to those who’re wronged

And shine a light so others find their way

So hold me tight

Things will be alright

But this will be the last hug for a while
