Voices from the Field is being screened in the Taoiseach’s stand at the National Ploughing Championship from the 19th-21st September

Voices From the Field  / Guthanna ón nGort reflects the experiences of ten farming families from the Dingle peninsula who took part in Corca Dhuibhne Inbhuanaithe / A Creative Imagining with artist Lisa Fingleton from 2021-2023.
Over the last year, the artist worked closely with the farmers through drawing and film to creatively explore climate change and biodiversity loss. This collaborative film was co-created with the farm families so they could tell their stories and experiences. They share their connections to the land and the types of farming they are engaged in. They reflect on their learning from this project, their concerns about climate change and their ideas for the future.
This project was funded by the Creative Climate Action Fund through Creative Ireland. The project was managed by The Dingle Hub in partnership with MaREI and The Green Arts Initiative of Ireland. The films are directed by Lisa Fingleton and filmed by Chris Garrett. Editing, grading and music by Clint Fitzgerald.

“The film was just so powerful. We started off as ten farmers, but we’ve become a group of friends and like a little mini co-operative trying to expand more than anything. I think that is powerful”
– Niamh Foley, Farmer
“Working closely with the famers on the Dingle Peninsula over the last year and visiting each farm several times has been a real privilege. It has given me a unique opportunity as an artist, to understand their deep connection with the land and their growing concerns about climate change. Together, through drawing and film we have creatively explored their current experiences and their ideas for the future in terms of taking climate action and protecting biodiversity. It was great to see the wider farm families becoming involved throughout the project, including children and partners . The project has created bonds of friendship between the families and real momentum for action”.
–  Lisa Fingleton, Artist
