I wrote this song in response to these extraordinary pandemic times. At the start of the first lockdown my dad said ‘this could be the last hug for a while’. I sobbed when he left, not knowing when I would see my parents and family again. Its hard to believe that we are still in a lockdown in January 2021 and that the pandemic is still having such devastating effects on people around the world. This was an impromptu recording of song on Ballybunion Beach April 2020 and I hope it brings some solace. Thanks to Rena Blake for capturing the moment.
THIS COULD BE THE LAST HUG FOR A WHILE (Lyrics)
This could be the last hug for a while
The last time I see your rogueish smile
So hold me tight Things will be alright
This could be the last hug for a while
If we didn’t love, this would never hurt
But love makes bonds that hurt when they are cut
And love makes us understand
We’re all connected to this land
Yet one day we need to fly away
This could be the last hug for a while
The last time I see your rogueish smile
So hold me tight Things will be alright
This could be the last hug for a while
Be brave Be strong
Give voice to those who’re wronged
And shine a light so others find their way
So hold me tight Things will be alright
But this will be the last hug for a while
With Love x
